This is how sad I had let the engine compartment get by 2003! Over the years the spark plug wires had melted and been replaced with anything I had in the garage.
The Carter TTQ was showing its age and one day the secondaries wouldn't even open. It was a tough year with the rear end self destructing (see the opps section for details) Time for further investment! |
I finally got that fuel line sorted out! It is connected to a Holley 80508, 750 Double Fuel fed, brand new shiny carb!
I also installed a set of MSD wires and anti-melt boots over the spark plugs where they ran close to those Hooker Headers. I still need to get rid of that Blue tube crap and settle down to a few less colors under the hood. I wish I could have got those wires in black, but red was what they got and red is what went in. |
Here is a lesson that too many colors mess up the engine bay.
Notice that I did finally replace that old nasty alternator with a new one. Another thing I found out fairly quickly was that I needed the rest of the Alternator "Y" brace. It was missing from the car when I got it, but without that support, the top bolt would eventually break off in the block ! |
